LAURA MOSIER

LYRICAL + JAZZ

Laura Mosier fell in love with dance at the age of 7 and began dancing competitively at the age of 12. She finished her competitive dance career at PowerUp Dance Center, with experience in Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop. While dancing at PowerUp, she began her teaching career at just 16, working on foundational dance skills with young beginner students. Following high school, she went on to receive a B.A. in both Dance and Communication Studies from James Madison University, where she studied Modern, Ballet, and Composition under Ryan Corriston, Matt Pardo, Cynthia Thompson, Suzanne Miller-Corso, and Shane O’Hara.

After graduating, Laura moved back to Maryland and began substitute teaching for high school dance teachers in Howard County while assisting a Tap class under Jodi Macias at PowerUp Dance Center. She now teaches Lyrical, Jazz, and Tap at PowerUp Dance Center, as well as Ballet Foundations at Dance Athletics Studio. Due to her own experience with injuries in her dance career, Laura is passionate about injury prevention, emphasizing the importance of proper training in her classes by equipping her students with anatomical knowledge on exercises and dance movement.
